Lughnasadh is a modern Gaelic word that
means "August".  This particular midpoint
was the decline of summer and begins the
transition to winter.  Lughnasadh is the
first of 3 harvest festivals that celebrates
the beginning of harvest season.  The
festival was known as "August Eve."   The
thanksgiving festival involved many
different kinds of breads, berries, and
corn dolls.  It was also a time to dismiss
regrets, and old grudges for the cold
season to come.
